The YoWorld Expansion to YoTopia: Your Questions Answered

The YoWorld Expansion to YoTopia: Your Questions Answered

Hey YoFans!

We published our first FAQ back in January, and a lot has happened since then. You’ve named our future continent and apartment building. You’ve seen the avatar, the apartments, and the world starting to take shape.

Throughout our reveals you’ve kept asking some great questions about the future. So we’re back with an updated FAQ that reflects where YoTopia actually stands today, not where it was three months ago. Some of these answers are new. Some update what we’ve said before. All of them are honest.

Before we start, a quick reminder on names: We consider YoWorld to be the name of our game, unified under a single unified vision. Classic YoWorld is the game you’re playing right now. YoTopia is the new continent being built on Unity, and will be available in the near future. Both exist in the same world, connected across the Yocean.

Q1. What is YoTopia and why are you building it?

YoTopia is a new continent in the YoWorld universe, built on a modern game engine called Unity. It gives us the ability to do things Classic YoWorld simply cannot support: bigger rooms, dynamic lighting, sharper HD graphics, smoother performance, and a foundation that can grow for years.

We hear the question: “Why not just fix what we have?” The honest answer is that Classic YoWorld was built in 2008 on technology from a different era. Some of the things you’ve been asking for (better visuals, more flexible rooms, stable performance) can’t be retrofitted onto that aging foundation. We’re expanding YoWorld, not replacing it.

Q2. Will YoTopia Replace Classic YoWorld?

No. Classic YoWorld will continue to receive ongoing support, content updates, and player support. Your homes, items, currency, and history remain exactly where they are. Nothing about Classic YoWorld is ending.

YoTopia aside, the one major change for YoWorld’s future is that Facebook is shutting down its Canvas Gaming platform in September 2026. That means YoWorld will no longer be playable on Facebook after September 1st. You need to migrate your account to YoWorld.com before then. This is a Facebook decision, not ours, and it affects every Canvas game on the platform. YoTopia was already in development months before this announcement.

So to be clear: Migrate to YoWorld.com so you can keep playing Classic YoWorld. YoTopia is a separate, additional experience.

Q3. Can I go back and forth between Classic YoWorld and YoTopia?

Yes. One account, two continents. We’ve been building a Global Login system that will link one account to both Classic YoWorld and YoTopia. One click takes you to YoTopia, one click brings you back to Classic YoWorld. Same you, new horizons.

Q4. Will my items and homes come with me to YoTopia?

Classic content will come to YoTopia, in batches, over time. At last count, there are over 500,000 different items in Classic YoWorld, and each one needs to be rebuilt for YoTopia's upgraded platform. That's a massive undertaking, and it won't happen overnight. YoTopia will launch with a smaller, curated set of YoTopia exclusive items, and the library will grow in waves after launch.

Here's how we're approaching it: We'll ask the community to help prioritize which content batches come over first. We can’t migrate over everything all at once, so you'll have a voice in deciding what ships when.

Some older items, particularly broken Zynga-era content, may not make the trip, but they'll remain in your Classic YoWorld account. Nothing disappears from the game you’ve invested so much into.

As for homes, YoTopia apartments are brand new spaces designed for the modern engine. We cover what’s new about them in Q8.

Q5. What about my YoCoins and YoCash?

This is a big one, and we don’t want to dodge it. Our intent is clear: the YoCoins and YoCash you’ve earned in Classic will still matter in YoTopia, and we’re actively designing how that works.

The specifics, including conversion flow, potential exchange rates, and how the two economies balance over time, are still being shaped. We love the economy our community has built, and we want to make sure everyone feels their currency has a fair, positive impact in Classic YoWorld and YoTopia. Getting this right matters enough that we’d rather take the time to do it well.

We’ll share the full design in a dedicated post once it’s locked, and loop our community into the conversation as it takes shape.

Q6. Will my avatar look the same?

Your avatar in YoTopia still looks like you. Same iconic art style, same personality. But everything under the hood has been rebuilt.

The new avatar supports all the same layers as Classic YoWorld. Hair, eyes, face shapes, makeup, outfits, accessories. All of it. What's different is how it all works together. Clothing now moves with your body on a proper joint system. Dynamic lighting reacts to your avatar in real time. Our upgraded animation system supports movements and effects that weren't possible before. And it opens the door to entirely new types of items down the road, like animated clothing, physics-based hair, and visual effects.

We want to be upfront about something we're actively exploring: how to bring your Classic costume items into YoTopia. With over 500,000 items in Classic YoWorld, this is a massive undertaking, and we want to get it right.

One approach we're considering would give you two avatar body options in YoTopia. Your classic-style body, where your migrated hair, outfits, makeup, and accessories look exactly the way you remember them. And the new YoTopia body, where costume items built for the upgraded system take full advantage of dynamic clothing movement, lighting, animations, and entirely new item types that Classic simply can't support. Think of it as two closets. Your Classic closet could eventually come with you and works the way it always has. Your YoTopia closet is brand new and does things your old closet never could. This isn't set in stone. We're still working through the best path forward, and your feedback will help shape how we land on a final approach!

We know some of you have seen screenshots and been worried because the demo avatar looks different from what you're used to. Those screenshots and recordings are only showing a placeholder avatar with limited cosmetics loaded. When designing a new system, you have to start somewhere! As we continue development, more real eyes, hairstyles, makeup, and outfits will be added to YoTopia's inventory. We're actively working on creating more cosmetic variety, and when we show it, we think you'll be relieved.

Q7. What will happen to my VIP status?

Your VIP status matters to us. We’re extremely aware that our VIP YoFans know they’re helping to support the future of YoWorld’s development. We’ll share specific details on how VIP benefits work in YoTopia as we get closer to launch. What we can say now: VIP players will continue to be recognized and rewarded across both continents, and your voice in shaping what comes next is not going anywhere.

Q8. What's new in YoTopia that I can't do in Classic?

Our first goal for YoTopia’s is to design a proper YoWorld experience using modern game technology. This foundation is what will make everything we’re listing below possible. Our priority is getting a playable version into your hands and building the rest of YoTopia with you, not just for you. These aren't just tech upgrades. They’re invitations to help shape what YoTopia becomes.

The following features will be available in YoTopia at launch:

Dynamic lighting. Light sources in the world actually reflect off your avatar and your furniture in real time. Stand near a window and your outfit catches the sunlight. Place a lamp and watch the mood of the room shift.

Bigger rooms. YoTopia apartments are significantly larger than anything in Classic YoWorld. More space, more creative freedom, more room to build the scenes you've always wanted.

HD widescreen view. The game fills your entire screen with crisp, panoramic high-definition visuals. No more borders. Everything scales to your monitor, including 4K.

Smoother performance. Built for stable 60 FPS with faster load times and fewer disconnects.

Tablet support. YoTopia is already running on iPads and most Android tablets. Mobile phone support is being worked on.

A world designed to grow. The town is intentionally built so new shops, new spaces, and new neighborhoods can be added over time. Those forest edges you see in screenshots aren't dead ends, they're doorways.

Improved inventory loading. Items in YoTopia load instantly from the cloud, so you'll never wait for your inventory to catch up with you. Giant inventories will behave the same as tiny inventories!

And we're just getting started. The modern platform means we can build and ship new features faster than ever before. Our team will be working on several features new to the YoWorld community, but if there’s a feature you’d like to see implemented in the future please share your feedback with us here: YoTopia General Feedback Form.

Q9. How will I earn currency and play day-to-day in YoTopia?

YoTopia is being built for all YoFans, whether you're a premium spender or not. You'll have ways to earn currency through gameplay, daily activities, and events.

The store will have items to browse and buy with your YoTopia currency, and we'll be adding new content regularly. If you’re familiar with Classic YoWorld, then you already have an idea of our goals: Decorate your avatar, fill your apartment, show it off to friends, but on a platform that lets us do more.

Q10. What will happen with community contests, the player design council, and the creative community?

Our creative community is one of the most special qualities of YoWorld, and we have no intention of leaving that behind. Design contests, player-submitted items, and creator recognition are all things we're thinking about for YoTopia. We’re already doing this with naming contests, NPC designing, and more!

We've also heard the conversations about themed content variety and bringing back fan-favorite themes. We hear you. As the content pipeline for YoTopia ramps up, expect to see both new original content and community-driven content.

Q11. What devices can I play on?

YoTopia is built on Unity targeting WebGL, which means it runs in your browser. No download required.

Desktop/laptop: Works in modern browsers including Chrome, Safari, Firefox. Full-screen HD. Scales up to 4K.

Tablets: Already running on iPads and most Android tablets. Same full-screen experience as desktop.

Mobile phones: We know this is a big request, and we're actively working on it. The smaller screen requires careful design work to get right, so it won't be available at launch, but it's on the roadmap.

Facebook: YoTopia does not depend on Facebook. It's built on YoWorld.com. You will not need a Facebook account to play YoTopia. (Remember: Facebook Canvas Gaming shuts down September 1, 2026, so make sure you've migrated your Classic account to YoWorld.com.)

Q12. Will YoTopia be affordable? Will free to play players have a home there?

Yes to both!

YoTopia, and Classic YoWorld, will always be free to play. You won't need to pay to enter, explore, decorate, socialize, or enjoy the world. There will also be premium options for players who want to support the game and get more out of it, but the door is open to everyone.

As for "is it worth it?" We'll have to let you be the judge. This world has been built with you from the start, and we’re excited to get constant feedback to build a world we’re all proud of!

Q13. When can I play? How do I make sure I don't miss the news?

YoTopia won’t open to everyone on day one, but we’re closer to launch than you may think! Over the next little while, you’ll learn more about how to be one of the first Founders to access YoTopia.

In the meantime, here’s how to make sure you’re the first to see it:

  • Follow our Developer Blog at devblog.yoworld.com.
  • Keep an eye on our in-game feedback forms. That’s where we gather community input that shapes what’s coming.
  • If you’ve submitted your email in any of our VIP surveys, you’re already on the list for updates.

We hope this helps answer some of your burning questions! We’re very excited for how development has shaped up over the past several weeks. We think you’re going to be excited too.

Big things are coming, YoFans. See you soon!
